Kick-off press conference to announce the launch of the FP7 EU-funded project ENCCA - the European Network for Cancer research in Children and Adolescents - together with Riccardo Giacometti, director of hotels Bristol and Imperial

CCRI representatives - Prof. Kovar, Prof. Gadner, Assoc. Prof. Ruth Ladenstein as project coordinator and SIOPE President - communicated ENCCA which represents a milestone towards an interactive and sustainable European Network of Excellence to the Austrian media.

The main objective of this project is to restructure knowledge-sharing through the integration of the whole chain of stakeholders and to support acceleration of the development of innovative therapeutic strategies for children and adolescents with cancer.

"ENCCA is an essential step to create a better future for children and adolescents who suffer from cancer. Because cancers in children and youths are rare and greatly differ from those found in adult patients, it is important to systematically examine research results and their implications on diagnosis and treatmens. We need increased understanding of the specific characteristics of paediatric cancers," explains ENCCA coordinator, Assoc. Prof. Ruth Ladenstein, MD.
